Freelance portal will charge a percentage from the total bid amount as a fee or in certain cases of high-paid membership they do not charge a fee.
You must be thinking why clients post their project in those web portals instead of giving to any company in India or Philippines; the reason is very simple that they don’t need to have any long procedures like agreement paper works, tax procedures and yes of course its very economic for them as freelancers’ hourly rates would be very less and very flexible on working hours. I had many sleepless nights worrying that my bid will not get selected and that someone else would be selected.
You will struggle a lot in the beginning as you may not have any reference of your previous work and buyers would prefer to give work for someone who is having good reviews and paid membership.
